Evidence of effectiveness

Results from a randomized controlled trial conducted in 2013 (published in 2016) supported the effectiveness of the Pure Power program for high school students. This evaluation included 112 students in one school who were in grades 9-11 (59% Latinx, 22% Black/African American, 11% Asian/Asian American; 85% of students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch (FRPL)) in a public high school in a city in Northeast U.S. The study found that high school students who participated in the program had higher average GPAs compared to students in the control group (outcomes reported one year after baseline while controlling for outcome pretest and student participation).

How does Pure Power support SEL implementation across multiple settings?

“Pure Edge helps school districts implement a "Culture of Care," integrating systemic SEL, at the school level. It recognizes the need to care for self and one another and empowers all members of the school community to flourish. The strategies are simple for educators to learn and share with learners and colleagues, as well as parents and caregivers.”
